Landon Donovan is considering a move to Europe

LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan revealed last night at the MLS All-Star Game that he is considering a move to Europe. Donovan had an outstanding World Cup, and he also had a successful two-month loan period to Everton last winter. The Blues are keen to bring Donovan back to Goodison Park, and Manchester City are also interested, as are a few Italian Serie A clubs. Said Donovan, "We have had transfer interest and we will have some time to think about it and see where it goes. There is interest from a number of teams."

Donovan has made known his desire to move permanently to Europe, but a transfer is being held up by MLS and Commissioner Don Garber. Last week Garber said that Donovan would not be leaving the Galaxy, but he recently altered his stance, saying "I hope that he will stay here for the rest of his career (but) it's not my decision, it's Landon's decision and LA Galaxy's decision."

Landon Donovan deserves to move to Europe. He has accomplished all that he possibly can in MLS, and he has given more than his fair share to the game in America. He is the face of American soccer, and for the United States to take the next step on the international stage, its best player must make a successful move to Europe. Donovan has nothing left to prove here, and for his own benefit, Garber, MLS, and the Galaxy must allow him to leave.
