Future uncertain for Vidic

After claiming that he would see out the remainder of his contract with Manchester United, Nemanja Vidic could be leaving after the World Cup. Vidic's agent Paulo Fabbri did nothing to quell rumors that Real Madrid have been planning to steal the center back from the Red Devils. Fabbri commented, "At the moment there is no news. Nemanja has obviously left for the World Cup with Serbia and is concentrating on that. We are waiting for information. We are waiting for Nemanja to tell us what he wants to do, so at the moment we are waiting as it is up to him."

Losing Vidic would certainly hurt Manchester United, as fellow center back Rio Ferdinand has been plagued by injuries and seen a recent dip in form. However, Northern Ireland international Jonny Evans has proven to be a serviceable backup, and there is no doubt the Sir Alex Ferguson will be able to replace Vidic if he chooses to depart.
