Benzema may be included in exchange for Vidic

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Manchester United central defender Nemanja Vidic, but Sir Alex Ferguson is reluctant to allow the Serbian international to leave. However, Madrid may be willing to include out-of-place striker Karim Benzema in a deal for Vidic that would be mutually beneficial for both sides. United need a strike partner for star Wayne Rooney, and Benzema has failed to find playing time at the Bernabeu. With Gonzalo Higuain extending his contract, as well, chances of Benzema cracking the first team do not seem likely to improve.
Though Vidic has been the anchor of United's defense for several seasons, especially as Rio Ferdinand has been hampered by injuries and poor form, this deal could be in the best interests of both teams. Vidic is reportedly unhappy in Manchester, and a move to Madrid could do well for the center back. United relied almost solely on Rooney for scoring during the previous campaign, and bringing Benzema to Old Trafford would create a lethal forward combination.
