Manchester City and Inter Milan have reportedly agreed to a £24 million transfer fee for Italian striker Mario Balotelli. The young forward had long been unhappy at Inter, and several teams had shown interest, including Manchester United and Chelsea. However, Balotelli appears to have joined City on a five-year deal worth £65,000 per week.
Balotelli's sale is likely to trigger several other transfers. To make room for Balotelli, Manchester City are expected to loan out striker Emmanuel Adebayor to Italian club Juventus. If Inter also sell right back Maicon to Real Madrid in, as is expected, the new cash from Balotelli and the Brazilian will be used to bring new players into the San Siro. New Inter boss Rafa Benitez is aiming to sign Javier Mascherano and Dirk Kuyt from his old club Liverpool, and he is also interested in Atletico Madrid striker and World Cup Golden Ball winner Diego Forlan.
